GetMyLan is very simple to use with nothing to configure on the remote PC. Just log on and you will access your corporate network with up to 256-bits encryption without any of the hassles of traditional VPN configurations. Users can easily be granted secure access to their files, applications and email from virtually any location with an Internet connection.

* The GetMyLAN Portable Edition is packaged as an Ultra Portable Application and requires no installation. You can keep the portable edition on a USB stick, or download the portable version directly from your BarracudaDrive server. The Ultra Portable Application is designed to self destruct when you exit the application. See Ultra Portable Applications for more information. The GetMyLAN Portable Edition cannot be used with command line based Internet programs. Use the installed version if you use command line based network programs.

How It Works

The GetMyLAN client creates a sandbox for all Internet programs, such as your browser, your email client, etc. after you log on to your corporate network. The sandbox makes all Internet programs behave as they are connected directly to the company LAN. The physical network you are connected to, such as a WiFi hotspot, is only used as a carrier for the encrypted data sent between your remote PC and your corporate network. You are completely shielded from the insecure network the remote PC is connected to. The backend GetMyLAN server is integrated into our BarracudaDrive Secure Web Server. The BarracudaDrive Web Server is installed on one of your company servers and your gateway/firewall is configured to allow secure HTTP traffic (HTTPS) to and from the server running BarracudaDrive. Since our technology is based on secure HTTP, the tunnel allows collaboration from access points traditionally not accessible to VPN solutions such as from behind external company firewalls. In addition, the data being transferred is compressed before it is encrypted to maximize the throughput on slow connections.

The BarracudaDrive Web Server gives the administrator an easy to use web based interface for setting up permissions for the GetMyLAN clients. The administrator can group users and set access rights for each group. It is, therefore, easy to give employees and/or business partners' limited access to the corporate network and services on the network.

The GetMyLAN technology extends our HTTPS Tunnel technology and automatically creates a virtual LAN for all network programs running on the remote PC.

BarracudaDrive includes a secure file system server that allows your employees to collaborate and exchange any kind of document stored on the company server. Remote and local users can easily exchange Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc., using the secure file server.

Employees working externally with a permanent office computer can use our free and complementary GoToMyWebServer product, which lets you remotely control your PC from anywhere.

The high performance BarracudaDrive Web Server can be used as your company's public web-server as the built in BarracudaDrive web server firewall prevents external access to your LAN from anonymous users.

GetMyLAN is not visible under normal operation. A small icon is shown in the Windows task bar. You can double click this icon to open the GetMyLAN application window. The GetMyLAN application window lets you view statistics and connection information.
